The flagship device is here from OnePlus, and I am all praises for this one. OnePlus 10 Pro is a great mix of design and performance an all-round device with a premium price tag. It gets a competitive camera setup but has some heating issues while gaming. Let’s find out how well rounded is this flagship device?
DESIGN:
The design of OnePlus 10 Pro might have left a few friends of mine thoughtful, but I am pleasantly surprised and like the tweaks made by OnePlus taking away from the regular and making some statement like changes. You get a big camera bump with Hasselblad branding and a curved screen display which stands out and makes the device look different from the rest. It is available in two colors — Emerald Green and Volcanic Black. I have the Volcanic Black traditional & classic. With all mat finish which is soft to touch leaving no finger marks on the device it oozes out preimmunizes.
The SIM tray is at the bottom along with a stereo speaker and a Type-C port. On the right, you will get the power button and the alert slider with the traditional OnePlus gradients. Volume rockers are on the left. The device is light and very comfortable to use single handedly.
DISPLAY:
OnePlus 10 Pro has got a flagship display with a 6.7-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED LTPO 2.0 display. What LTPO display does is it helps readjusting on what Hz should what content be played on screen for saving giving longer battery life. You get a safe coating of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top of the screen. The display isn’t on QHD+ resolution by default. You can change it by going to the display settings.
The display in every form feels premium. The curved screen always makes the device display more appealing and sleeker looking. Viewing content has been a delight on the same and you will have a great gaming experience on it.
PERFORMCE & SOFTWARE
OnePlus 10 Pro runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1. The device gives a true flagship premium device experience with no lag. You will enjoy the device while gaming and while multi- tasking with ease. The only little issue you might face is of heating while excessive use of the device. To keep that in control the device is using better thermal cooling system as claimed.
The device comes loaded with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage ensuring fast functionalities.
With the OnePlus 10 Pro you will experience the OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12. OxygenOS 12 does feels a lot like the ColorOS. You get yourself a OnePlus Shelf which can be redesigned and comes down when you swipe down from the top right. For the notification window, you have to swipe down from the top left.
Subtle changes to the colours of notifications are visible with Android 12.
CAMERA:
OnePlus as we can we see through its advertisement & promotions is highlighting their relationship with Hasselblad which has been a boom for the camera set up. You can take images in multiple modes like fisheye 30x zoom and a lot more.
The OnePlus 10 Pro has a triple camera system on the back and a single camera on the front. The main wide camera on the back is the 48-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX789. It has a 23mm equivalent 7P lens with f1.8 aperture, OIS, phase detection autofocus, although the laser autofocus has been removed. It can record video up to 4K 120fps or 8K at 24fps.
The telephoto camera is an 8-megapixel OmniVision OV08A10. It has a 76mm equivalent f2.4 lens with OIS and PDAF. It can record video up to 1080p 30fps. Switching to higher resolutions or frame rates causes the phone to switch to zooming digitally on the main wide camera.
The ultra-wide camera is a Samsung ISOCELL JN1.This camera can record video up to 4K at 30fps.
The images derived under all modes have been crisp, good in color and saturation the night mode might not appeal to all but didn’t leave me disappointed. Therefore, all in all OnePlus has outdone itself when it comes to the camera set up.
BATTERY:
The device comes with 80W wired fast charging. OnePlus is packing the charger inside the box. It also supports 50W wireless charging, but for that, you need to purchase the wireless charger separately. It packs a 5000mAh battery which is does wonders for this device. You will never find yourself in a situation where you are out of battery.
VERDICT:
OnePlus 10 Pro is device to be proud of. It is a worthy enough flagship for OnePlus to be happy about. They have stepped out of comfort zone when we talk about design and have outdone themselves in the camera department. The flagship is a well performing device with a great display. What you need to watch out for is the price tag. Starting at Rs 62,499 OnePlus 10 Pro is placing itself at a premium level. Well there is everything to like about this well rounded Android device so the price will always be debatable keeping your pocket in mind.
