A CRPF soldier lost his life, and six other security personnel sustained injuries in two separate encounters with terrorists in Kathua and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir overnight, officials reported on Wednesday.
In Doda, five troopers of Rashtriya Rifles and a special police officer (SPO) were hurt when terrorists attacked a joint check post on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road.
Meanwhile, CRPF jawan Kabir Dass was critically injured in a terrorist firing in Kathua’s Saida Sukhal village. Despite being shifted to a hospital, he died due to his severe injuries.
Terrorists in Saida Sukhal opened fire to disrupt the security cordon, with one being killed during the subsequent search operation. Another remains holed up and is suspected to have infiltrated from across the border.
Senior police officers, including the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), are overseeing the operations, with the area cordoned off and house-to-house searches ongoing.
These incidents follow a recent attack on a bus carrying pilgrims, resulting in nine deaths and 41 injuries.
In Doda, terrorists attacked a joint check post late Tuesday, leading to a prolonged gunfight, leaving five Rashtriya Rifles personnel and an SPO injured.
Additional security forces have been deployed to intensify the operation.
Regarding the operation in Kathua, ADGP Anand Jain stated that two terrorists appeared in Saida Sukhal village, seeking water from a household. When the police arrived, one terrorist was killed, while the other remains hidden. An assault rifle and a rucksack were recovered from the deceased terrorist, with investigations ongoing into their identity and affiliation.
