The ninth India Region Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) was officially opened on Monday in Udaipur, Rajasthan, by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The ninth India Region Conference of the CPA was officially opened this morning by Birla, according to a statement released by the Lok Sabha Speaker’s Office. Prior to the conference, it was reported that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla presided over a meeting of the CPA’s Executive Committee.

The conference witnessed the participation of esteemed dignitaries, including Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Speaker of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly CP Joshi, MPs, MLAs of Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha, Chairperson of CPA headquarters Ian Liddell-Grainger and other dignitaries.
Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimiry, Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri and Member of Lok Sabha Uday Pratap Singh were also present at the inaugural event, said the statement.
The theme of the two-day Conference is “Strengthening Democracy and Good Governance in Digital Age”.

Presiding officers of state legislatures, including Chairpersons, Speakers, Deputy Chairpersons, and Deputy Speakers, will discuss some crucial issues during the conference. How to increase the effectiveness or efficiency of public representatives in promoting good governance through digital empowerment is one of the subjects covered. The other subject is how public officials support democratic institutions that strengthen the country.
