During his week-long tour to Japan, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik pay a visit to the Kimitsu Steel Works of Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC).
A high-level group led by the state ministers of industries, MSME, and energy, as well as the chief secretary and several other top officials, is accompanying the chief minister. According to a statement, the delegation was briefed on the plant and given a tour of the complex.

The state delegation’s visit to NSC’s Kimitsu Steel Works allowed the delegation to learn about the newest technologies and processes used by NSC in the production of steel, according to the statement.
The plant was built on reclaimed seashore ground and employs environmentally friendly green technologies. The water used to be deeper than 10 meters. The facility has a big campus with green tree belts.
The plant manufactures a wide range of specialized steel products that are used in a variety of downstream sectors, including automobiles.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed his admiration for the cutting-edge facility and NSC’s dedication to excellence in steel production. He talked about using comparable green technologies for new plants in the Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts. “The proposed plant will also focus on specialized steel products, enabling downstream industries in Odisha,” said CM Patnaik.
He emphasized the enormous potential for cooperation between NSC and Odisha, given the state’s rich mineral resources and steel sector potential. “He also assured NSC officials of the Government of Odisha’s unwavering support for Arcelor Mittal-Nippon Steel, India’s upcoming integrated steel plants in Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur in Odisha.” The projects will use large amounts of iron ore, which will help to increase the value of the mineral within Odisha, as opposed to the current pattern of exporting iron ore,” CM added.
