A tragic incident occurred in Odisha’s Jharsuguda, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman and the disappearance of seven individuals, including three children, after the boat they were traveling in capsized. Authorities stated that over 50 people were aboard the boat at the time of the accident in the Mahanadi River on Friday.
Efforts are underway to locate and rescue the missing individuals, with the recovery of the woman’s body already completed. As part of the ongoing operation, more than 40 people have been successfully rescued. Kartikeya Goyal, the Jharsuguda collector, informed the press that the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) is leading the search efforts, with additional support expected from scuba divers from Bhubaneshwar.
Goyal further stated, “We have rescued around 47-48 people so far and will send them back to their villages tonight. The body of a 35-year-old woman has been recovered. Four women and three children are missing. The search operation is underway.”
