The nursing officer at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector-32, Dabkesh Kumar, has been suspended on charges of harassment. This decision was made on Friday based on the report of an investigation committee formed in response to a complaint by a female resident doctor at the hospital.
The hospital administration states that during the suspension, the nursing officer must obtain permission before leaving the headquarters. Additionally, he must report to his headquarters every Wednesday.
This matter has stirred significant anger among nursing officers at the hospital. After the suspension order was issued, they have come together to express their solidarity. They claim that Dabkesh Kumar has been falsely accused because he had been vocal in support of nursing officers while serving as the President of the Nursing Welfare Association at the hospital.
Furthermore, many cases related to the rights of nurses are still pending. Nursing officers revealed that the hospital administration dismissed two nursing officers without proper explanation last Friday. Both of the nursing staff were new and were not informed about the hospital’s procedures.
The nursing officers feel targeted by the hospital administration and are facing various challenges as a result.
