The registration process for teacher recruitment in government schools in Maharashtra, conducted through the Pavitra Portal, has been extended until September 30. However, aspiring teachers are still eagerly awaiting official information regarding the number of vacancies.
The teacher recruitment process for positions in Zilla Parishad, Municipal Council, Corporation, as well as aided and semi-aided schools in the state began earlier this month when the ‘Pavitra Portal’ was launched.
The education department issued a notice announcing the extension of the registration deadline to allow Teachers Aptitude and Intelligence Test (TAIT)-qualified teachers to complete the self-certification process on the portal. This marks the second extension of the registration deadline.
Applicants who have already enrolled express their concern about the lack of clarity regarding the exact number of vacancies.
Santosh Magar, president of DEd and BEd Students Association, stated, “We do not yet know exactly how many recruitments will take place. There have been statements by the government that there could be 30,000 recruitments in the state, but there has not been any official confirmation on this.”
Registration on the online platform for TAIT-qualified teachers began on September 1, and the original deadline was extended to September 22.
Priyanka Patil, a recently TAIT-qualified teacher who has registered on the portal, highlighted the confusion, stating, “We are registering on the portal, but we still do not know the exact number of vacancies in our subject and in our district.”
She mentioned the conflicting information provided by the government, with one statement suggesting around 30,000 vacancies and others indicating different numbers.
In the past, an official advertisement specifying the number of openings would be released before the recruitment process commenced. Applicants are eager for clarity regarding the availability of positions for which they are registering.
The delay in providing this information is attributed to the completion of rosters in several districts. “Fourteen rosters have been completed. We can expect to initiate the process within a month’s time,” stated Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare.
