Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, met with the family of a man who died in fighting in the state’s Nuh district on July 31. This morning, the chief minister traveled to the deceased youth Abhishek’s home.
On July 31, fighting between two groups erupted in Nuh after an attack on a religious procession that was passing through the neighborhood resulted in the deaths of six people, including two Home Guards, and the injuries of about 20 police officers. Anil Vij, the home minister for Haryana, had earlier claimed that a preliminary investigation had indicated that Congress, the opposition party, had been involved in the clashes in Nuh and its surrounding areas.
At a press conference on August 29, Vij stated that 510 people had been detained and 130–140 FIRs had been filed in the case thus far. Additionally, he claimed that Congress MLA Mamman Khan was the subject of evidence showing that he went to the locations of the violence.
“In the initial investigation, we have arrested approximately 510 people and we have registered 130-140 FIRs. After their interrogation, the conclusion that we are getting for now is that it looks like this has been done by Congress. In this Congress’s MLA Mamman Khan has also been called for interrogation by police on August 30,” Vij said.
