WATCH| PM Modi Asks Indians In US to Vote for Bharat

In a speech in New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the vast scale of Indian democracy, emphasizing the sheer number of voters in India compared to other countries. Modi proudly stated that India’s recent elections involved nearly double the number of voters than the entire population of the United States. He also underscored the logistical magnitude of India’s democratic process, which included over 10 lakh polling stations, 2.5 lakh political parties, and 8,000 candidates. Modi’s speech focused on India’s diversity and democracy as sources of national pride.

He further reflected on the global significance of democracy, linking India’s democratic celebrations with upcoming elections in the U.S. Modi underscored the importance of India’s democratic processes as a point of pride and its contribution to global democratic values​.

In the context of upcoming U.S. elections, Modi connected India and America as partners in celebrating democracy. He also underscored how democracy in India strengthens its global position, with the Indian diaspora playing a pivotal role as “Rashtradoots” (ambassadors of the nation), helping bridge ties between India and the U.S.
