Watch “Nacho Nacho”: Hindi Campaign Anthem Energizes South Asian Voters For Kamala Harris

Prominent Indian-American community leader Ajay Bhutoria has launched a new Hindi campaign song titled “Nacho Nacho,” inspired by the Oscar-winning track “Naatu Naatu” from the film RRR. The song, performed by Bollywood singer Shibani Kashyap, is designed to galvanize South Asian voters in support of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris ahead of the upcoming US presidential election on November 5.

“‘Nacho Nacho’ isn’t just a song, it’s a movement,” Bhutoria stated, highlighting the campaign’s intent to engage the diverse South Asian American community, particularly in key battleground states and districts. With over 4.4 million Indian Americans and 6 million South Asians eligible to vote, the campaign’s objective is to help secure a victory for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

The music video accompanying the song features Kamala Harris accepting her nomination and aims to transcend language and cultural barriers, resonating with voters in multiple languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, and Bengali.

Reflecting on the significance of the upcoming election, Bhutoria said, “In 2020, we made history by electing the first woman of South Asian and African American descent as Vice President. Now, in 2024, it’s time to make her our next President.”

If successful, Kamala Harris, 59, would become the first woman to serve as the President of the United States in the nation’s 248-year history. Her nomination follows President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race, attributed to growing concerns over his age, especially after a problematic debate performance against Republican rival Donald Trump in June.

Polls suggest a tight race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. A New York Times/Siena poll released on Sunday shows Trump leading Harris nationally by a narrow margin of 48% to 47%. However, Harris is slightly ahead in crucial swing states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, with ties reported in Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, and Arizona. A CBS News/YouGov poll also reflects Harris’s slim lead in Michigan and Wisconsin, with the two candidates tied in Pennsylvania.
