Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday likened the Israel-Hamas conflict to two children fighting in a schoolyard, arguing that recent incidents, including Tuesday’s Iranian missile attack on Israel, should not have occurred. Trump emphasized that the US must remain heavily involved in the Middle East, stating, “This has really been bad, but they have to finish that process. Sometimes you have to just let it go a little bit; we’ll see what happens.”
He described the ongoing violence as a “horrible, horrible war,” expressing concern over the situation’s escalation and the lives affected. Referring to the recent barrage of nearly 200 missiles from Iran, which were mostly intercepted by Israeli defenses with US support, Trump criticized President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their handling of the situation. He claimed that the US is “very close to global catastrophe,” stating, “We have a non-existent president and a non-existent vice president who should be in charge, but nobody knows what’s going on.”
Trump asserted that during his presidency, there was peace in the Middle East, with Iran “fully contained” and desperate for negotiations. He accused the current administration of providing funds to Iran, which he claims has led to an increase in global terrorism. “Under President Trump, we had no war in the Middle East, no war in Europe, and harmony in Asia,” he stated, attributing the current instability to the incompetence of the current leadership.
