Paris Loses ‘City Of Love’ Title As Maui Takes Crown In Romance Survey

Paris, once synonymous with romance, has lost its crown as the world’s most romantic destination. According to a survey conducted by Talker Research and Funjet Vacations involving 2,000 Americans, the idyllic island of Maui, Hawaii, has taken over as the preferred destination for love.

 Survey Findings: Maui Over Paris

The survey revealed that Maui received 34% of the votes, edging out Paris, which garnered 33%. While Paris remains a popular choice, American couples now favor more secluded and intimate destinations for a romantic escape.

In fact, 69% of participants agreed that smaller, hidden locations offer a more romantic experience than larger, well-known cities. Around 45% of respondents claimed that such lesser-known places are ideal for fostering an intimate connection.

Romance on Vacation: A Special Experience

The survey also showed that 69% of people felt more romantic on vacation than in their everyday lives. Couples were more affectionate during their travels, with 55% enjoying romantic walks on the beach, 54% watching the sunset, and 53% holding hands.

Moreover, 76% of respondents felt that vacationing together signified a serious step in their relationship, and 72% agreed that spontaneous trips with their partner were exciting and romantic.

Expert Tips for a Perfect Romantic Getaway

Experts recommend including activities that encourage bonding, such as yoga, snorkeling, or wine tasting, to make the most of your romantic getaway. Dana Studbaker, vice president of marketing at Funjet Vacations, emphasized that vacations allow couples to escape the ordinary and rekindle their romance.

Michael Lowery, head of global consumer business at Funjet Vacations, also advised couples to opt for all-inclusive resorts to avoid hidden costs and maximize the adventure.

Top 5 Most Romantic Destinations (Survey Results):

1. Maui, Hawaii (34%)
2. Paris, France (33%)
3. Rome, Italy (29%)
4. Venice, Italy (27%)
5. Cancun, Mexico (19%)
