Pakistan Evacuates 71 Nationals From Lebanon, Syria Via Special PIA Flight

Pakistan: The government successfully evacuated 71 Pakistani nationals from Lebanon and Syria, with a special Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight bringing them to Karachi in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the Foreign Office, 67 Pakistanis were repatriated from Lebanon after traveling by road to Damascus, where they were airlifted back to Pakistan. Additionally, four Pakistanis were evacuated from Syria.

The Pakistan Embassy in Lebanon and Syria managed the security, transportation, and food arrangements to ensure a smooth and incident-free evacuation through Lebanon.

Upon their arrival at the airport, the evacuees were welcomed by Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, Federal Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Sindh Industries Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo.

Governor Kamran Tessori emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safe return of Pakistanis from Lebanon and assured that the remaining Pakistanis stranded in Lebanon would soon be repatriated. He also commended the efforts of the embassies for their timely actions in facilitating the safe return of the 71 Pakistanis from the war-affected region.

Federal Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, speaking at the Karachi Airport, acknowledged the challenges faced during the evacuation, praising the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for taking full responsibility for the safe return of the nationals.

Sindh Minister Dharejo also lauded the Sindh government’s role in this effort.

Last month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs activated its Crisis Management Unit (CMU) to assist Pakistani nationals and their families in Lebanon, following the suspension of flight operations due to the conflict.
