Musk vs. Harris: Heated Exchange On X Over ‘Day One’ Leadership

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has ignited a fresh wave of controversy by sharing an AI-generated image of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of intending to become a “communist dictator” if elected. This provocative move by Musk came in response to Harris’s earlier remark that former President Donald Trump “vows to be a dictator on day one” if re-elected.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Musk called out Harris, stating, “You are lying,” before posting the image that depicted her wearing a red blazer—often associated with communism—and a cap featuring the iconic hammer and sickle symbol. The Vice President has yet to respond to Musk’s post.

Musk’s public support for Donald Trump marks a significant shift in his political stance. Having previously backed Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election and even voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, Musk has since switched his allegiance to the Republican camp. His disillusionment with the Democratic Party reportedly began after the Biden administration dismissed his idea of a carbon tax, a policy Musk has advocated for since 2015. The rift deepened when Tesla was snubbed from a White House summit on electric vehicles in 2021, a move Musk found “odd.”

Musk has not only voiced support for Trump but has also expressed interest in working with him if he is re-elected. Reports suggest that Musk could potentially assist in auditing U.S. government agencies to identify programs for budget cuts—a prospect that has raised concerns among ethics experts, who fear conflicts of interest given Musk’s extensive business ventures.

As the U.S. presidential election approaches in November, the contest between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is intensifying. Musk’s outspoken support for Trump adds another layer of complexity to an already heated political landscape.
