Israel Vows To Prevent Another 7 October Incident, Promises To Do ‘Whatever Necessary’

Israel’s military spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, issued a statement claiming that Israeli forces are launching targeted attacks on Hezbollah positions within Lebanese villages, which he alleged have been converted into military bases. In a video message, Hagari explained the strikes are intended to prevent future attacks similar to the deadly 7 October incursion, which saw Hezbollah militants cross the border to attack Israeli civilians. He emphasized that these operations aim to protect northern Israeli communities.

Hagari accused Hezbollah of preparing to invade Israel through these villages, referring to their plan as “Conquer the Galilee,” which he claimed was designed to massacre innocent civilians. He reiterated that Israel’s war is against Hezbollah, not the people of Lebanon, and stated that measures are being taken to avoid harming Lebanese civilians.

The Israeli strikes come in response to ongoing Hezbollah rocket fire, which has displaced around 60,000 people in northern Israel. Lebanon’s government reported that the intensified Israeli airstrikes have killed about 1,000 people, injured around 6,000, and displaced approximately one million Lebanese citizens. The conflict has drawn international concern, with the UN referencing article 2.4 of its Charter, urging nations to refrain from using force against another state’s territorial integrity.

Despite the mounting civilian casualties in Lebanon, Israel remains steadfast in its operations, claiming it is necessary for the safety and security of Israeli families. Meanwhile, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, has criticized a recent UN General Assembly vote calling for an end to Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, labeling it as “shameful.”
