Elon Musk Believes Italian PM Meloni Is Similar to Trump

Andrea Stroppa, a key figure managing Elon Musk’s engagements in Italy, recently shared insights into Musk’s admiration for Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. According to Stroppa, Musk sees Meloni as a strong leader who, like Donald Trump, stands up for Western values, particularly individual freedom and freedom of expression. Stroppa emphasized that Musk’s support for leaders like Meloni and Trump stems from their ability to protect these principles in the face of increasing global challenges, including misinformation and governmental overreach in digital platforms.

In their interactions, Musk did not make any major requests of Meloni, except for a playful suggestion to use the Colosseum as a venue for his proposed cage fight with Mark Zuckerberg. Stroppa clarified that Musk’s interest in Italy is not purely personal, pointing to opportunities for Italy to benefit from companies like Starlink and SpaceX. He highlighted Italy’s stagnant growth and the potential role of Musk’s ventures in boosting sectors like satellite internet and space technology, which could significantly aid the country’s digital and technological advancements.

Musk’s admiration for Meloni is rooted in her competence and willingness to embrace policies that challenge the status quo. Stroppa noted that while Musk recognizes both strengths and weaknesses in Meloni’s government, he believes she has the capacity to foster growth and innovation in Italy’s technological landscape.
