During the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, it’s anticipated that India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, will convene with the BCCI selectors later this week to deliberate on the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The ICC has set May 1 as the deadline for squad submissions for all participating teams. With the deadline approaching, various experts have offered their perspectives. Ambati Rayudu, former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player, has also named his 15-man probables for the World Cup.

One notable absence from Rayudu’s squad is star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has faced scrutiny for his IPL performance this season. Although leading MI for the first time, replacing Rohit Sharma as captain, Pandya’s performance has been subpar.

Reports suggest that the BCCI is unlikely to include new IPL performers, but Rayudu has selected players like LSG’s Mayank Yadav and Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag in his projected squad.

Mayank, with an impressive start to his IPL career, is a favorite for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Americas, beginning June 2.

In the batting lineup, Rayudu has opted for Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav as the top four, while selecting Dinesh Karthik as the wicketkeeper over Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson. Karthik, despite RCB’s position at the bottom of the table, is enjoying a stellar season with the bat.

For the bowling unit, Rayudu has chosen a combination of three spinners and four pacers.

Ambati Rayudu’s India squad for the T20 World Cup 2024:
Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mayank Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj.
