"No Demands, No Change In Reservation", Says TDP's Ram Mohan Naidu

Telugu Desam Party MP-elect and Union Minister designate Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu stated on Sunday that his party has not yet presented any demands to its National Democratic Alliance ally, the BJP. He also reaffirmed the party’s election promise to maintain the Muslim quota reservation in Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu and the Prime Minister and his council of ministers will be sworn in as Union Cabinet Minister on Sunday. Narendra Modi is scheduled to take the oath of office as Prime Minister at 7:15 PM.

On TDP getting a Cabinet berth, Rammohan Naidu said, “After a long time, TDP will have a Union Minister. We are delighted. We have the undivided attention of the Central government.”

He added, “Our vision has always been to develop Andhra. We will work for the Telugu people wherever they are, in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. We have been chosen with a good mandate. We are hoping to bring development to Andhra with the help of Narendra Modi,” he said.

On May 5, Chandrababu Naidu informed reporters that the party has consistently supported a four percent reservation for Muslims and will maintain this stance. This morning, TDP announced that the party will secure two positions in the Cabinet—one Cabinet Minister and one Minister of State—in the BJP-led NDA government being sworn in today.

TDP MP-elect from Srikakulam, Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, will be the youngest-ever Union Minister in Modi Cabinet 3.0 at 36. Son of senior TDP leader Yerran Naidu, Rammohan has represented Srikakulam since 2014. He will break his father’s record as the youngest Cabinet Minister, continuing a legacy. Rammohan also served as TDP’s national general secretary and floor leader in the outgoing Lok Sabha, receiving the Sansad Ratna Award in 2020.
