Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav ruled out the possibility of a future alliance with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his Janata Dal (United), revealing details of a past apology made by Kumar for joining the BJP-led NDA. Yadav’s comments come amid growing political tension in Bihar as both parties prepare for the upcoming assembly elections.
Nitish Kumar Apologised with Folded Hands, Says Tejashwi Yadav
Tejashwi Yadav recalled how Nitish Kumar had previously apologised for his decision to align with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in front of RJD MLAs. “When he came to our house, he apologised with folded hands. He asked for forgiveness in front of all the MLAs, saying he made a mistake joining the BJP and vowed not to join them again,” Yadav revealed. However, despite the apology, Yadav firmly ruled out any future alliance with Nitish Kumar’s JD(U).
No Trust in Nitish Kumar’s Oath
Yadav emphasised that Nitish Kumar’s words and promises no longer hold any value, suggesting that the Bihar CM might change his stance at any time. “His oath has no meaning. No one trusts him. Twice we gave him another chance, and both times he betrayed us. This time, there is no point,” he added.
Nitish Kumar’s Shifting Alliances Over the Years
Nitish Kumar’s political career has been marked by frequent changes in alliances. In 2015, Kumar’s JD(U) formed an alliance with Yadav’s RJD, securing a victory in the Bihar elections, with Kumar as Chief Minister and Yadav as his deputy. However, the partnership ended in 2017 when Kumar shifted to the BJP-led NDA and retained his CM post. In 2022, he abandoned the BJP and renewed his alliance with the RJD, only to switch sides again by returning to the NDA in January 2024.

Tejashwi Criticises Nitish Kumar’s Law and Order Record
Yadav further targeted Nitish Kumar’s government, criticising its failure to maintain law and order in Bihar. “Criminals are unafraid of the police. Murders, kidnappings, and robberies are happening every day. Nitish Kumar’s reputation is completely tarnished,” Yadav stated. He accused the government of being more focused on attacking the opposition than addressing the state’s crime issues.
The remarks came after BJP leader Munna Sharma was shot dead in Patna while resisting a chain-snatching attempt. Yadav cited the incident as an example of the worsening law and order situation under Kumar’s leadership.
Tejashwi’s ‘Aabhar Yatra’ to Strengthen RJD
Tejashwi Yadav also spoke about his ‘Aabhar Yatra’, aimed at connecting with RJD workers across Bihar. “This journey is to communicate with party workers, listen to their advice, and strengthen the party. The strength of the party depends on the strength of its workers,” he said.
