The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team reached the village of Kot Gurupura in Baghapurana, Moga on Wednesday. The team sealed the fourth part of 43 acres and 3 marlas of land belonging to the terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode. A case is registered against Lakhbir Rode in Delhi. Lakhbir Singh Rode is the nephew of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala.
The NIA stated on Wednesday that the Special Court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Punjab has ordered the seizure of the land owned by the fugitive Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh, also known as Rode, in Pakistan.
The Special Court of Mohali ordered the seizure of the land located in the village of Kot Gurupura (Rode) in Moga district of Punjab, which was previously owned by the militant organizations International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) and Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) leader Lakhbir Singh.
The order was issued in a case from October 1, 2021 (RC-24/2021/NIA/DLI), related to various charges, including sections 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, sections 18, 20, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, section 21B, 27A, 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, and section 120B of the Indian Penal Code, among others.
Firstly, on September 16, 2021, a case was registered under sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act at the Jalalabad police station in Punjab. Subsequently, the NIA conducted an investigation into this case. According to the NIA, a tiffin bomb was used in this incident. Around 7:57 PM on September 15, 2021, there was an explosion at Punjab National Bank’s branch in Fazilka’s Jalalabad city, involving a motorcycle.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Lakhbir Singh Rode played a significant role in this blast. He had sent weapons and explosives, including tiffin bombs, to crowded places in Punjab to instil fear among the people.
