The National Investigation Agency has arrested the eighth accused in the murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

The agency said that 19-year-old Mohammad Javed had played a key role in the conspiracy to kill Kanhaiya Lal. He allegedly informed the main accused Riyaz Attari about the presence at Kanhaiya’s shop.

It is being told that this eighth accused Mohammad Javed is a resident of Sindhi Government Haveli in Udaipur. His father works in a bakery and the family is originally from Bihar.

The NIA was interrogating accused Mohammad Javed for the past several days. On confirmation of his role, the NIA arrested the accused.

Earlier, Kanhaiya Lal had made a post on social media in support of Nupur Sharma, a former BJP spokesperson who commented on the Prophet. Due to this, the accused killed Kanhaiya Lal by slitting his throat on June 28.

According to the information, on July 9, the NIA arrested Farhad Mohammad Sheikh, the seventh accused in the murder. Farhad was close to the main accused Riyaz and was involved in the conspiracy.

However, the murderers, Mohammad Riyaz Attari, Ghaus Mohammad, and those involved in the conspiracy, Mohsin, Asif, Mohd Mohsin, and Wasim Ali, have been sent to judicial custody till August 1.
