A 23-year-old law student allegedly ran over a woman with a speeding car in Vadodara. As a result, the incident has triggered massive outrage. The accident occurred around 12:30 am near Muktanand Crossroads in the Karelibaug area. Immediately after the crash, bystanders caught the accused, Rakshit Chaurasiya, and thrashed him. Later, they handed him over to the police.

CCTV Footage Reveals the Horrific Crash

Soon after, CCTV footage of the accident surfaced, showing the shocking moment. In a viral video, a speeding car crashes into two scooters, knocking down the riders and dragging them before stopping.

In another clip, Chaurasiya’s friend, Mit Chauhan, steps out of the car and blames him for the crash. Meanwhile, Chaurasiya can be heard shouting, “Another round? Another round?” Moments later, he screams “Nikita” after the accident. Furthermore, the video shows furious bystanders attacking him before the police arrive.

Police Confirm Victim’s Identity

According to the police, the victim was Hemali Patel, who was riding her scooter at the time of the accident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Panna Momaya confirmed her identity and shared details of the case.

Suspect Was a Law Student from Varanasi

Chaurasiya, originally from Varanasi, was studying law and staying in a PG accommodation in Vadodara. Consequently, police arrested him at the scene.

Possible Drunk Driving Under Investigation

Authorities suspect that Chaurasiya may have been intoxicated. “The car was overspeeding. This could also be a case of drunk driving. Therefore, we will conduct medical tests to confirm,” DCP Momaya stated. Additionally, she noted that Chaurasiya holds a valid driving license.

Police Searching for Car Owner

Meanwhile, police are actively searching for Mit Chauhan, who owned the car and was in the passenger seat during the crash. Overall, this tragic accident has reignited concerns about reckless driving and road safety.
