Raj Gautam, 25, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a college student in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, after which she died, according to police. During interrogation, the accused told cops that he went to the victim’s house alone and raped her. He also admitted to taking two energy-boosting pills prior to committing the crime.

When her sister returned home, she discovered the victim, a second-year college student, unconscious in the courtyard and bleeding from her private parts. The family called the cops, who rushed the woman to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The autopsy report confirmed rape and death from excessive bleeding caused by shock and haemorrhage.

According to police, Gautam continued raping the victim even after she resisted. When she began bleeding from her private parts, he became terrified and fled the scene.

The police discovered a conversation between the accused and the girl in which he tells her about coming over to the house and she refuses.

According to Superintendent of Police Siddhartha Shankar, the victim’s father initially claimed that a 28-year-old neighbour and a 65-year-old woman were involved in the incident. Police arrested them based on their claim. However, after Gautam confessed and was arrested, the two neighbours were reportedly given a clean bill of health.

The victim’s parents told police that she was focused on her studies and aspired to be an IAS officer. The father told that he had taken a loan from a bank for the purpose of arranging for books for her career aspiration.
