WPL 2026 Retention: The retention window for the Women's Premier League 2026 has brought a bold shake-up as UP Warriorz, who have opted to retain just one player ahead of the mega auction, signal a full-scale rebuild of their side.

WPL 2026 Retention: Shweta Sehrawat, Uncapped Indian Talent, Retained

UP Warriorz have retained only one player, promising young batter Shweta Sehrawat (₹50 lakh), an uncapped Indian talent.

In retaining Sehrawat, the franchise clearly prioritises youth and potential over established stars-a refreshing but ambitious directional shift.

WPL 2026 Retention: Deepti Sharma & Big Overseas Names Released by UP Warriorz

The UP Warriorz have let go of several experienced internationals and senior domestic players, including Deepti Sharma, in a surprise move considering her performances lately.

Other key released names include international stars like Sophie Ecclestone, Alana King, and Tahlia McGrath, while domestic players include Kiran Navgire and Rajeshwari Gayakwad.

The decision suggests UP Warriorz are willingly jettisoning large parts of their squad in an attempt to clear the purse and rebuild from the ground up.

WPL 2026: UP Warriorz's Auction Strategy

With just one retained player, UP Warriorz head into the WPL 2026 auction with the biggest purse among all teams (approximately ₹14.5 crore) and four RTM (Right-to-Match) cards.

This leaves them with immense flexibility to build a new squad that blends youth, overseas signings, and targeted domestic acquisitions.

The franchise appears poised to make bold moves in the auction and re-shape its identity rather than sticking with the legacy core.
