India’s athletics scene witnessed a big moment in Tokyo. Sachin Yadav, a 25-year-old javelin thrower from Uttar Pradesh, stunned the crowd at the World Athletics Championships 2025. While the spotlight was on Neeraj Chopra and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, it was Sachin who delivered the surprise of the night.

Sachin threw 86.27 meters in his very first attempt. It was his personal best and helped him finish fourth at the championship. Neeraj Chopra ended in eighth place and Arshad Nadeem in tenth. Sachin, however, finished as the best among Asian throwers in the final.

Who is Sachin Yadav?

Sachin Yadav was born on 25 October 1999 in Khekra, Uttar Pradesh. He stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and brings a fast-bowler’s power to javelin. In fact, Sachin first wanted to become a cricketer. He was passionate about bowling fast until he switched to javelin at the age of 19.

Sachin Yadav Net Worth

He is one of India’s most promising javelin throwers after Neeraj Chopra and is quickly rising both in fame and finances. His yearly income is estimated to be between ₹45 lakh and ₹1.3 crore. The exact figure is not known, but it comes from different sources. His prize money from placing fourth at the 2025 World Athletics Championships was around ₹13–14 lakh (US$16,000).

On top of that, the government and sports federations usually give ₹10–30 lakh as rewards for such achievements. Sachin is managed by IOS Sports & Entertainment, and as his name grows, he is expected to earn ₹10–40 lakh from sponsorships. He may also get ₹5–15 lakh from state-level stipends and training support, adding to his overall income.

Sachin Yadav: Journey To Championships

Sachin worked hard to reach the world stage. He first made headlines at the 38th National Games in Dehradun, where he won gold with a meet record throw of 84.39m. That performance was his personal best at the time.

Earlier in 2025, Sachin also won silver at the Asian Athletics Championships. He competed at the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic meet as well, where he narrowly missed a medal. He finished fourth with a throw of 82.33m.

In the Tokyo qualifiers, Sachin had a shaky start. His first attempt went 80.16m. But he recovered well and threw 83.67m to finish 10th overall. That effort was enough to book his spot in the 12-man final, where he later surprised everyone with his best throw ever.

Rising Star of Indian Athletics

Sachin’s fourth-place finish is more than a personal achievement. It signals a shift in Indian athletics. For years, Neeraj Chopra carried India’s javelin hopes. Now, Sachin has shown that he can match the world’s best.

His story inspires young athletes in small towns. Hard work may make all the difference, as Sachin’s journey from trying to bowl rapidly to becoming a world-class javelin thrower exemplifies.
