UFC 322 was supposed to kick off with the usual hype inside Madison Square Garden but things took a different turn before the action could even get underway.
Dillon Danis is noted for his association with Conor McGregor and penchant for causing controversy, became embroiled in an unexpected fight with members of Islam Makhachev’s corner. The incident occurred prior to the beginning of the main card and quickly overshadowed any interest in the event itself.
Dana White Draws bans Danis
Following the event, Dana White stated that Danis is no longer welcome to attend any future UFC events. White acknowledged that he did permit Danis to continue staying in the facility despite multiple reports of him drifting into rows of reserved seats and trying to provoke a response.

Cornermen informed him that Jorge Masvidal was in proximity to Danis and would engage him on sight and White elected to allow him to stay and subsequently paid for that decision when things blew up.
Who is Dillon Danis?
He built his name as a skilled grappler and respected jiu-jitsu black belt, but his partnership with McGregor during training camps brought him into the spotlight and early success in Bellator suggested he could develop into a legitimate MMA prospect. But the brawl following McGregor’s fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov years ago pushed him away from the UFC’s plans and cast him as more of an agitator than an athlete.
Dillon Danis: Trouble as a Calling Card
Over time, Danis leaned into being a provocateur with his social media persona grew louder than his competitive resume. Feuds with major fighters, a messy rivalry with Logan Paul and legal issues surrounding his online behaviour kept him in the headlines for the wrong reasons. His return to competition this year on a Misfits card was quick and decisive, but the noise outside of the cage continues to overshadow the moments inside it.
What is Future for Dillon Danis?
White’s decision seems final, slamming the door on any future involvement with the UFC. Danis can still compete but the path back to the biggest stage in the sport appears sealed. Saturday’s eruption doesn’t define his full legacy but it certainly reinforces a pattern the UFC no longer wants to deal with.
