Arturo Gatti Jr., son of deceased boxing legend and Hall of Famer Arturo "Thunder" Gatti, died at 17. His death was confirmed by the World Boxing Association on Wednesday, October 7, 2025.

"The WBA and boxing community are saddened by the death of Arturo Gatti Jr. His life was just starting, but his spirit will never die now together with his legendary father among the stars," the organization stated.

News of his demise initially spread on social media and was subsequently confirmed by Chuck Zito, Gatti Sr.'s former bodyguard. "It's with a heavy heart that I have to say… R.I.P. 17-year-old Arturo Gatti Jr.," Zito posted on Instagram. Arturo Jr.'s trainer, Moe Latif, similarly confirmed the news, requesting privacy amid this trying moment.

Cause Behind the Death of Arturo Gatti Jr.

Arturo Gatti Jr, who was 17 years old and the son of late boxing icon Arturo Gatti, was discovered dead in a Mexican apartment on October 7, 2025. Gatti's ex-bodyguard, Chuck Zito, announced the death through a social media platform one day later, on October 8, 2025. Arturo Gatti Jr was beginning to establish himself in the world of boxing, just like his father. But his aspirations were never realized as he made the drastic decision to take his own life. His mother, Amanda Rodrigues, is also having a difficult time as she lost both her husband and son in the same manner. 

The death of Arturo Jr. has hit the boxing community hard, with WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman having condolences to ESPN. The World Boxing Council and the international boxing family offer a prayer for the untimely loss of Arturo Gatti Jr. at 17. May God rest his soul and provide peace for his family."

Arturo Jr., who was born in 2008, lost his father at the age of just 10 months. His mother, Amanda Rodrigues, brought him up and grew up with the inspiration of his father's legacy. Arturo Jr. was a fan of boxing, and after amateur box training, he aspired to play for the Olympics before going professional.

Brazilian Amanda Rodrigues wed Arturo Sr. in Las Vegas in 2007. After Gatti Sr.'s death, she focused on raising Arturo Jr., maintaining private family life while encouraging her son's interest in boxing. Amanda encouraged Arturo Jr. to train and relocated with him to Mexico to give Arturo Jr. a stable life while remembering Gatti Sr.

Amanda Rodrigues is the lady experiencing the agony of losing her nearest and dearest family members to untimely death. She is the widow of ex-boxing champion, Arturo Gatti. She is from Brazil, and was married in Las Vegas to Arturo Gatti in 2007. After her husband's suspicious death in 2009, she was put under public scrutiny and was initially arrested on suspicion of murder regarding his death. But she was subsequently released and not charged when Brazilian authorities found it a suicide.

Amanda currently lives in Montreal, Canada, where she has established Boutique AG, Amanda Gatti Boutique on St. Denis Street, continuing to pursue her personal and professional life while honoring her family's heritage.

Three weeks prior to his passing, Arturo Jr. executed a new will giving all his properties to Amanda Rodrigues. The couple had just returned from Brazil for what Rodrigues called their "second honeymoon."
