Star batsman Virat Kohli, known for his aggressive style of batting, made time for a quiet moment of introspection and spirituality after his exceptional performance against South Africa.

After wrapping up the three-match One Day International series as the Player of the Series, Kohli visited the famous Simhachalam Temple in Visakhapatnam (Vizag) to offer his prayers. This was after a series where he returned to his best in spectacular fashion.

Recent ODI series against South Africa

The former India captain made a strong statement of return to supremacy in the recent ODI series against South Africa. Coming off some struggles on his last tour of Australia, Kohli took little time to get into his rhythm on home soil.

Above all, he was particularly merciless on the South African fast bowlers, who seemed to have no answer to stop his strokeplay from all corners.

Kohli was brilliant throughout the three games, hammering 302 runs at a brisk strike rate of 117.05, inclusive of two majestic tons and one half-century to shut critics and prove his status as one of the best in the world.

When did Virat Kohli start his cricket journey?

Virat Kohli’s journey to international stardom began on the streets of Delhi, where he showed a passion for cricket from a very young age.

His talent was nurtured at the West Delhi Cricket Academy, but his first real taste of global success came when he captained the India Under-19 team to a World Cup victory in 2008. This victory really put the young batsman on the map.

His senior international career began just a few months later. Kohli appeared for India for the first time in an ODI on August 18, 2008, during a tour of Sri Lanka.

He soon became an integral part of the team, proving his merit with a maiden century in 2009. From being a World Cup winner in 2011 to becoming a record-breaking Test captain, his initial journey was marked by a fierce hunger for runs and a never-say-die attitude that has defined his entire career.

Virat Kohli Love Life

Virat Kohli’s personal life, especially his marriage, is as famous as his cover drives. After being linked with a number of high-profile names in the entertainment industry in the early years of his career, Kohli found his ‘happily ever after’ in Bollywood superstar Anushka Sharma.

The two started getting more publicly known around 2014 when they first appeared in a commercial together. For years, their public support for each other’s careers earned them the popular nickname ‘Virushka.’

They mostly kept their personal life under wraps until their beautiful, intimate wedding ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, in December 2017. Their union seamlessly merged the worlds of cricket and cinema, making them India’s definitive power couple, celebrated for mutual respect and a strong family bond that now includes their daughter, Vamika.

Secret of Virat Kohli Fitness

Following a health scare and a poor IPL season around 2012, Kohli totally reworked his lifestyle. He now follows an extremely simple, repetitive, and mostly plant-based diet, drinking detox water and avoiding processed foods and refined sugar entirely. His meals keep a focus on clean, whole ingredients like steamed vegetables, salads, and protein sources such as lentils.
