Tom Moody Returns to IPL as Coach
Tom Moody is no stranger to the IPL environment. He was previously head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, having guided the franchise to its first-ever title back in 2016 while consistently qualifying for playoffs afterward.
Moody has been involved in multiple cricketing and consultancy roles across leagues and national boards since he stepped down from SRH when Brian Lara took over as head coach in 2022.
For Lucknow Super Giants, who have made two playoff berths since their inaugural year in 2022 but could not progress further, Moody brings a lot of leadership experience and strategic acumen.
Tom Moody’s appointment as Global Director of Cricket suggests that his role has become much larger, which will influence not only the IPL team but also the cricketing vision, talent scouting, and player development programs of the Super Giants.

After retirement, Moody took up coaching and administration and was widely praised for his analytical mind and man-management skills.
Apart from the IPL, Moody has coached in the Big Bash League (BBL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and remained Sri Lanka’s national coach from 2005 to 2007, taking them to the 2007 World Cup final.
