The much-awaited marriage of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been postponed indefinitely in view of a sudden family emergency. Smriti's father, Srinivas Mandhana, had suffered a heart attack during preparations for the wedding, casting a shadow on the festivities.
According to Srinivas Mandhana's manager Tuhin Mishra, he fell ill during breakfast at the family's farmhouse in Sangli, Maharashtra. An ambulance was called to rush him to a private hospital when his condition started deteriorating and he is under observation since then. His condition reportedly is stable for now.
The decision to postpone the wedding was driven by the deep bond Smriti shared with her father. Confirming this, Smriti's manager said that Smriti did not want to go ahead with the ceremony when he was unwell. The family officially announced that the wedding scheduled for November 23 in Sangli has been postponed indefinitely.
Pre-wedding rituals like Haldi, Mehendi, and sangeet ceremonies had already begun at the Mandhana farm house, where wedding preparations were in full swing. The venue decorations are now being taken down as the family focuses on Mr. Mandhana's recovery.
Smriti is very close to her father, and his health came first. Her manager said that she made a “very difficult” decision to postpone the wedding because of love and concern for her father.
Smriti and Palash were supposed to get married on November 23, 2025 at her family's farmhouse in Sangli. Many of her teammates from the Indian women's cricket team had joined the celebrations in the run-up to the marriage.
For Smriti, this moment seems to be about more than just love-it's about family. Known for her poise and strength on the cricket field, she now braces herself for a personal test of patience and care.
As one of Indian women's cricket's biggest names, she is likely to receive widespread support, not just for her games but for the difficult decision she has made.
