Days after being admitted to the ICU, the cricket star posted a major health update. The middle-order batsman took to his social media to express gratitude towards his fans for all the wishes he received in the days following the injury. He shared that he is currently in the recovery process, showing improvement with every passing day.
“I’m currently in recovery process and getting better, every passing day. I’m deeply grateful to see all the kind wishes and support I’ve received- it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts,” Iyer wrote in his social media post.

Shreyas Iyer Suffers Injury During ODI Against Australia
The ODI Vice Captain suffered an injury to his left lower rib cage while fielding during the third ODI against Australia held in Sydney on October 25th.
During the match, Iyer went for a dive catch to send Australian batsman Alex Carey back to the pavilion, following which the Vice Captain collapsed on the ground. He was rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where immediate medical care avoided any mishaps.
After the medical reports came, what was initially believed to be a bruise was revealed to be a grade-two splenic laceration — a potentially life-threatening injury.
An Insider from St. Vincent’s Hospital shared additional information regarding Iyer’s injury. They revealed that Iyer sustained “critical” injuries, and his blood pressure had dropped to a dangerous level. However, any mishaps were avoided thanks to the medical team, which got the situation under control without any surgery.
