The women’s pair of Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra also moved to the second round after battling past Chinese Taipei’s Zih Ling Huang and Wang Szu-Min 21-15, 16-21, 21-17 in a hard-fought three-game encounter.
Anmol Kharb, Tasnim Mir Enter Main Draw in Singles
In women’s singles, Anmol Kharb and Tasnim Mir advanced to the main draw after winning their respective qualification matches.
Anmol defeated Azerbaijan’s Keisha Fatimah Azzahra 21-11, 21-13, while Tasnim overcame Thailand’s Tidapron Kleebyeesun 21-14, 13-21, 21-17.
Tasnim is scheduled to meet top seed Chen Yu Fei of China in the first round of the main draw, and Anmol will meet second seed Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand.
Top Seeds Treesa-Gayatri Suffer Early Exit
Top seeded women’s doubles combination Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were defeated in the first round when they lost 21-16, 20-22, 15-21 in one hour to Lin Xiao Min and Peng Yu Wei of Chinese Taipei.
Apoorva Gahlawat and Sakshi Gahlawat lost to Malaysia’s Go Pei Kee and Teoh Mei Xing in the women’s doubles Round of 32, while Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi, the men’s doubles team, also lost in the first round.
Dingku Singh Konthoujam and Amaan Mohammad advanced to the main draw following their win over Law Cheuk Him and Yeung Shing Choi of Hong Kong 21-18, 21-17. In the second round, they will play fellow countrymen Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Sai Pratheek K.
Hema-Priya Qualify for Mixed Doubles Main Draw
The doubles mixed pairing of Thandrangini Hema Nagendra Babu and Priya Konjengbam also qualified for the main draw, where they face Thailand’s Phuwanat Horbanluekit and Fungfa Korpthammakit.
Satwik and Chirag started strongly earlier, rushing into a 6-1 lead. While the Malaysians narrowed it to 10-9, the Indians soon regained the initiative and won the first game 21-13.
In the second match, the Malaysians maintained the pressure until 13-14, but the former world No. 1 Indian pair broke away to 17-13 and closed out the match by taking four points in succession.
Meanwhile, Meiraba Luwang Maisnam did not make it to the main draw as he lost 15-21, 21-17, 13-21 to China’s Zhu Xuan Chen in the second round of qualification.
