Australia vs India, 3rd ODI: Indian sensation Rohit Sharma illuminated Sydney with a dazzling unbeaten 121, guiding India to a nine-wicket victory after Australia were limited to 236. Rohit's century not only guided the chase but also reflected his superiority against the Australian bowling attack.
With this knock, Rohit surpassed Virat Kohli to become the visiting batter with the most ODI centuries in Australia, registering six tons in total. Previously, he was level with Kohli and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, who each have five centuries in Australia.
Rohit's century also made him equal to Sachin Tendulkar for most ODI centuries against Australia. Both cricket greats now have nine centuries against Aussies, cementing Rohit's reputation as one of India's greatest limited-overs players of all time.
Rohit partnered Virat Kohli in a sparkling 168-run partnership for the second wicket off just 170 deliveries. Kohli was unbeaten at 74 as the pair guided India to a 237-run chase in 38.3 overs, staving off the prospect of a series whitewash.
In spite of going down 2-1 in the series, Rohit Sharma's record-breaking performance made for a grand finale to India's Australia tour. His domination and record-making prowess thrilled fans and cemented his place among cricket's greats.
Australia chose to bat and compiled 236 all out in 46.4 overs, led by 41 runs by Mitchell Marsh. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets, while Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna shared the other wickets. Rohit Sharma (121*) and Virat Kohli (74*) then combined in a 168-run second-wicket partnership to lead India to a easy 237/1, winning by 9 wickets.
