The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the families of 11 people who lost their lives in the stampede during the IPL victory celebrations on June 4.
The team expressed grief and wrote, “Our hearts broke on June 4, 2025. We lost eleven members of the RCB family. They were part of us. Part of what makes our city, our community & our team unique. Their absence will echo in the memories of each one of us.”

The team further stated that the support is not only financial but also emotional. They promised compassion, unity, and ongoing care. The statement read that no amount of support can ever fill the void left behind by the victims who suffered the tragedy. However, the team is taking the first step with the compensation of Rs. 25 lakh each to their families.
The team announced the beginning of ‘RCB Cares’, which is a long-term commitment for meaningful actions, starting by honouring the passed ones. Every step will speak of what the fans feel, expect, and deserve.

The tragedy had quickly turned political, with the opposition BJP blaming the ruling Congress government for mismanagement. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, who was present at the stadium, later clarified he had gone there at the request of the Police Commissioner to help disperse the crowd.
On June 5 RCB offered a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh with a promise to set up ‘RCB Cares’ to support the families of victims. After that, the team remained silent for almost three months before making an announcement on August 28. They said, “The Silence wasn’t Absence. It was Grief… June 4th changed everything.”
