NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. has strongly denied speculation about his retirement, responding directly to a false social media post that claimed he was ending his career.

On Tuesday, Beckham took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air. “Not done yet… thanks for hr concerns and have a blessed day,” he wrote.

Hours later, he issued a sharper message to his followers, “No seriously. Plz stop reading everything on the internet, and stop texting me happy retirement b4 u piss me off. That will get no response. I promise u the day I’m done I will let u know. Again if u text me happy retirement im just gon have to block u. Thanks.”

The posts came after a fake X account impersonating ESPN insider Adam Schefter falsely claimed Beckham was retiring after 10 seasons in the NFL. The parody account’s post quickly went viral, gathering over 2 million views.

The fabricated tweet read, “After 10 seasons in the NFL, Odell Beckham Jr. has decided to retire. Beckham Jr. played for the Giants, Browns, Rams, Ravens, and Dolphins. He announced Tuesday.”

Beckham directly replied in the comments, saying, “LOL… when was that announced and by who? That’s funny, appreciate the concerns but this ain’t over yet.”

Beckham’s NFL Journey

Odell Beckham Jr. is best known for his spectacular one-handed catches, electric playmaking, and a Super Bowl title with the Los Angeles Rams.

Prior to spells with the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Rams, and Baltimore Ravens, the 32-years-old wide receiver started his career with the New York Giants.
Beckham agreed to a one-year contract with the Dolphins in May 2024. But he was only in Miami for a short while. In just nine games, he caught nine passes for a total of 55 yards on 18 targets.

Parting Ways with the Dolphins

In December 2024, Beckham and the Dolphins mutually agreed to part ways. “It’s as simple as, what’s the best for both him and the team moving forward. We thought it was a good time to go that direction,” Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told The Miami Herald’s Omar Kelly at the time. “I know his expectations. When you communicate transparently, I know where he’s at. This is the best for both parties.”

After leaving the Dolphins, Beckham went unclaimed on waivers and did not sign with another NFL team for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Beckham’s Message to Fans

The NFL veteran made it clear he is not done with football. His posts emphasized that he will personally announce when it’s time to walk away from the game. Until then, Beckham remains focused on his career.

The event serves as a reminder of how quickly false information can proliferate on social media, particularly when phony accounts imitate reliable sports insiders. The goal of Beckham’s prompt and direct answer was to put an end to the rumor before it spread further.
