Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mike Tyson, two of boxing's most legendary figures, are going to meet in a historic exhibition fight. Long rumored as a fantasy fight between fans, the clash will finally happen next spring, although the date, time, and venue will be announced in due course. The event has been promoted by CSI Sports/Fight Sports.
Mayweather retired professionally from boxing in 2017 after posting a record win over Conor McGregor. He has continued to be active since, engaging in exhibition matches with enormous worldwide attention. The 47-year-old has competed in eight exhibitions, his latest being against John Gotti III in August 2024. Famous for his unparalleled defense and professional record of 50-0, Mayweather returning to the ring this time against a heavy legend has stunned the world of boxing.
Mike Tyson, now 59, remains one of the most feared fighters in the history of the sport. He last competed against Jake Paul in November 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Texas, marking his first professional fight in nearly two decades. Despite his age, Tyson continues to train rigorously and maintain his presence in boxing circles, with his aura still unmatched.
In an interview with ESPN, Tyson reacted in shock that Mayweather had accepted the bout. "When CSI approached me about fighting Floyd Mayweather, I thought, 'No way this happens,' but Floyd said yes," Tyson stated. He called the bout "something neither the world nor I ever thought could happen."
Taking a swipe at his arch-rival, Tyson followed up: "I still can't understand why Floyd wants to actually do this. It's going to cost him his health, but he wants to do it, so it's signed and it's going to happen!"
Although both of them are retired, the fight represents a historic meeting of eras Mayweather's technical mastery against Tyson's brute power. The exhibition will not be based on professional resumes, but it will be one of the most sensational events in contemporary boxing history.
