Marcus Rashford has been duly registered in time to play for Barcelona against Mallorca in their La Liga opener on Saturday. Rashford is joined by goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who have also been registered and are part of the traveling group. Rashford signed for Barcelona last month on loan from Manchester United with an option to purchase while Garcia signed in June from Espanyol.

Barcelona, the current La Liga champions, have had their share of financial fair play issues in recent times, which have held back player registrations. Despite the challenges, Rashford and Garcia will be in the running to play as Barcelona aim to begin their title defense in impressive fashion.

Rashford Relishing New Chapter

In his unveiling, Rashford was thrilled at becoming a Spanish giant. “Very excited. I think it’s a club where people’s dreams come true. They win big prizes. And what the club stands for really means a lot to me as well. So it feels like I am at home,” he added.

He also commended manager Hansi Flick, going on to say, “Another is because the discussions I’ve had with the manager were great. What he achieved last season was great. To take a very young team and produce a very successful campaign and come back at pre-season and still want to achieve more, it tells me everything I believed I knew about the club.

Rashford talked of his transfer to Barcelona as something natural. “I was certain of my choice from the start. In fact, perhaps in January. It didn’t go as planned in January, so I went to Villa and had a good spell there. Time to make another decision. My decision was simple. Barcelona is a family club, something I have accustomed myself with from before. It is like home.”

Versatility and Function at Barcelona

Barcelona issued a statement emphasizing Rashford’s versatility: “Rashford can play anywhere in attack. Right-footed, he can beat players and is a great finisher, abilities he can now reveal in a Barca shirt.”

The arrival of Rashford brings firepower to Barcelona’s front line, which also features established stars like Raphinha. The club will be expecting the former Manchester United striker to make an instant impact as they launch their La Liga campaign and bid to win back the Spanish title.

With registration settled and pre-season under his belt, Rashford is now well set to adjust to La Liga and assist Barcelona in winning trophies. Supporters will be keenly anticipating his debut as he begins this new chapter of his career in Catalonia.
