Jasprit Bumrah eased past the legendary Kapil Dev to become India's leading wicket-taker in away Tests with five-wicket hauls after his fiery spell in the sweltering heat of London on the second day of the third Test against England on Friday. Having taken a big break in the second match, Bumrah was back at the 'Home of Cricket', Lord's, with his mojo intact. He left England's best batters gobsmacked with his accurate lines and unsettling lengths. Bumrah ignited his way to his first five-wicket haul at Lord's to reach 13 in away Tests, accomplishing the milestone in 35 matches.

Historic Feat: Bumrah Goes Past Kapil Dev and Kumble

Bumrah overthrew Kapil's 12 five-wicket bagging mark in 66 Indian away Tests and took the lead. Anil Kumble, the retired spinner, dropped to the third place with 10 five-fers in 69 Tests away from home.

In 47 Tests, Bumrah has 215 wickets at a brilliant average of 19.49, with best bowling figures of 6/27 and 15 five-fors. In total, in 206 games, Bumrah reached the 450-wicket mark. He has 453 wickets to his name at an average of 20.48, with best figures of 6/19 and 17 five-fors.

Bumrah Equals Wasim Akram for SENA Five-Fors

With a magic to recall, the 31-year-old equalled the 'Sultan of Swing' Wasim Akram for an illusive record. With 11, Bumrah shares the highest five-wicket contributions by an Asian in SENA nations (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia).

He initiated his wicket account on day one by taking the ball past Harry Brook's inside edge directly into the stumps. On day two, the cunning quick once again continued to put his fertile run of form on display.

Day Two Domination: Stokes, Root, and Woakes Dismissed

On day two, he brought England Test skipper Ben Stokes' (44) quest to find form to an end by knocking the wood with a piece of sublime bowling. With the ball nipping around, Root came charging in, but the ball nipped in by a bit, knocked off the inside edge and thudded into the stumps. Root scored his record-breaking Test hundred but could add few as he departed the dressing room with 104(199).

On the following delivery, Bumrah requested a bleated caught behind. The slip squadron, however, was more confident that Chris Woakes had edged it to wicketkeeper Dhurv Jurel. India opted to take it upstairs, and the review showed a faint nick to the keeper. The third umpire reversed the decision as Woakes did not trouble the scorers and came back with a golden duck.

He topped his fine display with Jofra Archer's dismissal. When England bungled their innings for 397, Bumrah thumped the ball in the air and drank in the cheers of the crowd as he returned with 5/74 in 27 overs.
