Ravindra Jadeja will wear pink again in IPL 2026. Rajasthan Royals confirmed his return on the retention deadline day on Saturday (Nov 15). The move came through a major trade that sent Sanju Samson to the Chennai Super Kings. Both teams announced the swap in coordinated statements. The deal marked one of the biggest transfer-day shake-ups in recent IPL history.

Jadeja Calls RR His “Home”

Jadeja welcomed the move with emotion. He said the franchise gave him his first platform and his first winning experience in the league. "Rajasthan Royals gave me my first platform and my first taste of victory," Jadeja said in an official statement. "Coming back feels special; it's not just a team for me, it's home. Rajasthan Royals is where I won my first IPL, and I hope to win more with this current group of players," he added.

The all-rounder currently represents India in the second Test against South Africa. His switch to RR had remained a strong rumour since late October. Reports suggest that the Rajasthan Royals paid Rs 15 crores ($1.69 million) to bring him back. RR also made another important move by signing Sam Curran for Rs 2.40 crores ($271,000).

Sanju Samson Ends an 11-Year RR Journey

Sanju Samson’s exit ended one of the longest player-franchise associations in IPL. Rajasthan Royals thanked him for his service and his impact on young players.
“Rajasthan Royals thanks Sanju Samson for his outstanding contributions across 11 years with the franchise.

Joining as a promising youngster, Sanju grew into one of Indian cricket’s most admired players and leaders, representing the Royals with passion, humility and consistency while inspiring a generation of young cricketers,” Rajasthan Royals wrote on their website. Samson will now join CSK and is expected to play a central role in their leadership transition phase.

Multiple Transfers Shape a New IPL 2026 Landscape

More moves took shape on the deadline day. Matheesha Pathirana’s exit from CSK also appeared almost certain. No franchise showed interest during the trade window, so he may now enter the 2026 auction pool.

Other confirmed deals included:

  • Mohammed Shami (Sunrisers Hyderabad) to Lucknow Super Giants
  • Arjun Tendulkar (Mumbai Indians) to Lucknow Super Giants
  • Nitish Rana (Rajasthan Royals) to Delhi Capitals
  • Donovan Ferreira (Delhi Capitals) to Rajasthan Royals

These moves signal a major reshuffle ahead of IPL 2026, with several franchises adopting bolder trade strategies instead of relying solely on the auction.

RR Bets Big on Experience for Title Push

The Royals appear to be building a squad around high-impact, seasoned players. By bringing back Jadeja and adding Sam Curran, RR aims to strengthen its middle order and bowling depth. The combination of experience and youth could set up a strong title run. Jadeja’s leadership influence also adds value, especially as the franchise prepares for a fresh tactical direction.
