In a landmark move for women’s sports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that tickets for the upcoming Women’s World Cup 2025 will start at an unprecedented Rs. 100 ($1.14). With this move, which is a part of a new collaboration with Google, the tournament hopes to break attendance records and become the most accessible international cricket event ever.

When and where is the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025?

The 13th edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, 2025. After a 12-year hiatus, the competition is returning to India, and there will undoubtedly be a lively and cricket-loving environment.

How much do tickets cost and how can you get them?

The affordability of this World Cup is its defining feature.

  • Price Cap: Ticket prices have been capped at a historic low of just Rs. 100.
  • Pre-Sale: An exclusive four-day pre-sale window is open until September 8. Fans can purchase tickets for any match in India or Sri Lanka via Google Pay on the official website, Tickets.cricketworldcup.com.
  • General ticket sales will start on September 9 at 8 PM IST for those who were unable to attend the pre-sale.

Why is this pricing so significant?

This pricing strategy represents a radical shift from previous tournaments and underscores the ICC’s commitment to growing the women’s game.

  • Comparison: Tickets for adults cost about NZD 17 (about Rs. 850) in the 2022 edition in New Zealand, so the new price is about eight times less.
  • The Goal: The primary objective is to ensure stadiums are filled to capacity, creating an electric atmosphere and making top-tier cricket accessible to a much wider, more diverse audience.

What about the opening ceremony and prize money?

The ICC is pulling out all the stops to ensure this event is a spectacle.

Opening Ceremony: Bollywood playback legend Shreya Ghoshal will be the star performer at the opening ceremony in Guwahati on September 30. She will debut the official tournament anthem, “Bring it Home,” just before the opening match between co-hosts India and Sri Lanka.

Record Prize Pool: The total prize money for the tournament has been set at a whopping $13.88 million. This is a significant financial boost for women’s cricket and the competing players, as the purse is nearly four times that of the 2022 edition.
