And I decided to do it with the Great World Race for logistic purposes and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. All these people here are incredible. Everyone has an amazing story. And it's so impactful just to watch everybody mile after mile just burning through it the best they can. We'll see." STORY: Christian Brown Johnson set two Guinness World Records in the second edition of the Great World Race. The global endurance event held from November 15 to 21 saw 55 participants from 16 different countries complete seven marathons across seven continents in just seven days. Competitors also had to battle the elements with a peak temperature of 34.9°C in Perth and plummeting lows of -27°C in Antarctica. The race also stopped off in Cape Town, Abu Dhabi, the Algarve and Cartagena before finishing in Miami. The United States' Brown Johnson made history setting a new world record for the fastest average time to run seven 50km ultramarathons on seven continents (4 hours, 29 minutes and 22 seconds) while also breaking another by achieving the feat in a record shortest time of six days, 10 hours and 24 mins. Another American in Paul Box was crowned men's champion with an average marathon time of three hours, 26 minutes and 29 seconds. Lithuania's Roma Puisiene, meanwhile, hit an average of three hours, 53 minutes and 14 seconds to take the women's title. Aged 82 years and 359 days upon crossing the final finish line in Miami, Dan Little returned for a second straight year to become the oldest person to run a half-marathon on all seven continents in a week. The American grandfather also completed marathons across six continents and joked he'd be in even better shape at next year's edition. "Next year, I'm going to cut a minute per mile off," said Little adding, "I'll be the oldest but hopefully not the slowest."
