In a closely fought match during the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, the England Champions defeated the India Champions by 23 runs on Sunday. This match marked the 13th league fixture of the tournament. England’s experienced players delivered under pressure, securing a vital win in the legends' event, which features cricket veterans from both nations.
Meanwhile, in Test cricket, the Indian team managed a remarkable turnaround at Old Trafford, drawing the fourth Test against England. This result not only kept the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy alive with one match to go but also helped India slightly improve its position in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 standings.
India found itself in a massive hole after conceding a 311-run lead in the first innings and slumping to 0/2 early in the second. However, strong centuries from Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar powered the team to a spirited fightback. The trio batted across five sessions to ensure India avoided defeat, turning what looked like a certain loss into a gritty draw.
Both India and England earned four points for the drawn Test. This lifted India’s tally from 12 to 16 points, keeping them in fourth place with a Points Percentage (PCT) of 33.33%.
However, England’s standing took a minor hit. Even though they now have 26 points, they slipped from second to third place due to a two-point penalty for a slow over-rate violation during the Lord’s Test. Their updated PCT is 54.17%.
Australia remains the dominant force in the WTC 2025-27 cycle. They’ve played three matches—all against the West Indies—and won all three, maintaining a 100% PCT. The West Indies, despite playing the most matches along with India and England, languish at the bottom of the table due to consistent losses.
So far, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are yet to begin their campaigns in this WTC cycle, which could see significant changes in the standings as the competition unfolds further.
