Bangladesh will begin their final preparations for the Asia Cup 2025 when they face the Netherlands in the first T20I on Saturday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The three-match series will help Litton Das and his men fine-tune their plans before the Asia Cup, which starts in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in just 10 days.
For the Netherlands, this tour marks their first-ever bilateral series in Bangladesh. The Dutch will use this opportunity to prepare for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. The remaining matches of the series will be played on September 1 and 3.
Bangladesh Announces Strong 16-member Squad
The Bangladesh squad has a balance of youth and experience. Skipper Litton Kumer Das will lead the side, while Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam bring pace power. All-rounders Nurul Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin add stability, while spinners Nasum Ahmed and Rishad Hossain will test the Dutch in Asian conditions.

In batting, the likes of Towhid Hridoy, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Shamim Hossain will look to strengthen Bangladesh’s line-up.
Netherlands Bank on Young Spinners
The Netherlands, led by Scott Edwards, has also brought a competitive squad. Key names include Max O’Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, and Fred Klaassen.

The Dutch have placed faith in their spinners, naming Shariz Ahmad and Tim Pringle for the subcontinental challenge. However, they will miss experienced all-rounders Bas de Leede and Roelof van der Merwe, which could weaken their middle order.
BAN vs NED T20I head-to-head
Bangladesh and the Netherlands have faced each other five times in T20Is. Bangladesh dominate with four wins, while the Netherlands managed to beat them once back in 2012. This history gives Bangladesh a clear edge before the series opener.
