VIDEO SHOWS: NEWS CONFERENCE COMMENTS FROM CARLOS ALCARAZ AND LORENZO MUSETTI AFTER ATP FINALS GROUP MATCH RESENDING WITH COMPLETE SCRIPT SHOWS: TURIN, ITALY (NOVEMBER 13, 2025) (ATP MEDIA/IMG - Editorial use only. No resales. No monetisation.) 1. CARLOS ALCARAZ ENTERING NEWS CONFERENCE AND SITTING DOWN TO TAKE QUESTIONS 2. WHITE FLASH 3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ATP FINALS SEMI-FINALIST, CARLOS ALCARAZ, ON DAVIS CUP WITHDRAWALS, SAYING: “If I am honest with you, I think the Davis Cup is one of those tournaments that you're not used to feel unplayed because you're playing for your country, you're playing with your teammates, and it's totally different. I think it's one of the most privileged things you can do in our sport representing your country. I agree that they got to do something in this event because I think playing every year, it kind of, I mean, it is not, as good as it might be if you're playing every two or three years. So I think if the tournament is played like every two years or every three years, the players' commitment is going to be even more because it's unique, it's different and you're not able to play every year. So yeah, I'm playing this year. I really want to win the Davis Cup one day because for me it's a really important tournament. Jannik (Sinner) has won it twice, I think Lorenzo (Musetti) once or twice as well. For me, I would say it's normal for them because the season has been so long and they might skip it to have one more week to recover, to do vacation, to do pre-season, which is understandable. And it's normal, but I would say they got to do something about it to make the Davis Cup unique.” 4. WHITE FLASH 5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) WORLD NUMBER NINE LORENZO MUSETTI, AFTER MISSING OUT ON SEMI-FINALS SPOT IN ATP FINALS, ON WHAT MAKES ALCARAZ AND SINNER DIFFERENT FROM THE REST, SAYING: “Well, I don't know, probably I have to discover that, because maybe if I knew that, I would be closer. Of course, I think they have...they have something different from others in terms of abilities. In terms of, right now, I see that physical in the physical conditions, the way they move and the way they recover and the way they slide, they move during the rallies is the thing that impressed me the most, honestly, and the way they change from defence to offence is probably the thing that I need to increase and improve for the next season so far.” 6. WHITE FLASH 7. MUSETTI LEAVING NEWS CONFERENCE STORY: Carlos Alcaraz clinched the year-end world number one ranking and secured top spot in the Jimmy Connors Group with a 6-4 6-1 win over Lorenzo Musetti at the ATP Finals on Thursday (November 13). The Spaniard defended players skipping Davis Cup saying, it is "normal for them because the season has been so long", adding the format needs tweaking to make it "unique". The 22-year-old will be part of Spain's team at the Davis Cup which runs from November 18-23. Alcaraz also said Davis Cup was special because "you're playing for your country, you're playing with your teammates." "It's totally different. I think it's one of the most privileged things you can do in our sport, representing your country...I'm playing this year. I really want to win the Davis Cup one day because for me it's a really important, important tournament," he said after Thursday's win. Earlier, Musetti confirmed his withdrawal from the Italy team which will defend their Davis Cup title in Bologna next week, with the 23-year-old citing physical and family reasons after his loss to Alcaraz. Italy, who have won the past two editions, were already without Jannik Sinner after the world number two decided not to take part, preferring to prioritise preparations for his Australian Open title defence. Musetti made his debut at the season-ending championships in Turin this week as a late replacement following the withdrawal of Novak Djokovic, having missed out on automatic qualification after defeat to the Serb in Athens on Saturday. The Italian, unlike the other seven players involved in the ATP Finals, had no time to prepare at the Inalpi Arena prior to the tournament, and along with his almost three-hour match with Djokovic, had gone the distance in two other rounds in Athens. Musetti, whose partner is due to give birth shortly, was part of Italy's team for their two recent wins, and his place is expected to be taken by Lorenzo Sonego who has been in Turin practicing in recent days.
