Al Ahli captain Riyad Mahrez was first on the board for the visitors in the 34th minute with the first half closing out at 1-0.  Al Sadd’s Claudinho leveled for the home side with a high boot off the crossbar in the 63rd.  But just four minutes later, Al Ahli’s Galeno fed the ball to Matheus Goncalves who scored the winner from a tight angle with a shot off the goalkeeper’s gloves.  The top eight finishers in the 12-team table advance to March's knockout rounds with the quarter-finals, semis and final to be played on a centralised basis in Saudi Arabia in April.
