Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has invited Singapore-based companies to invest in the state, assuring prospective investors of full support from the government.
A Singapore delegation led by Augustine Lee, Permanent Secretary of the Energy Market Division under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, met Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Singapore representatives expressed their readiness to explore setting up semiconductor manufacturing units in Telangana. Welcoming the proposal, the Chief Minister assured the delegation that the state government would extend all necessary support and facilitate investments in the sector.
The representatives responded positively to the investment proposals discussed during the meeting.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also briefed the Singapore delegation on several major development projects being undertaken by the Telangana government and sought financial support for key initiatives. He invited the Singapore representatives to participate in the upcoming Telangana Global Summit, scheduled to be held at Bharat Future City in December.
The Chief Minister explained the government’s plans for the rejuvenation of the Musi River and the development of Bharat Future City. The first phase of the Musi rejuvenation project, covering the stretch from the confluence of the Musi and Eesa rivers to Gandhi Sarovar, was discussed.
The promotion of a night-time economy in Hyderabad also figured in the discussions.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the government’s vision to develop Bharat Future City as a net-zero city and transform Hyderabad from a predominantly tourist destination into a global knowledge hub.
He also informed the Singapore delegation about agreements entered into by the Telangana government with globally recognised institutions, including Harvard University, the University of Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and London Business School, for establishing offshore campuses in Hyderabad.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Telangana and Singapore in areas including semiconductor manufacturing, urban development, infrastructure and knowledge-based industries.
State Government Advisor K. Ramakrishna Rao, South Asia Senior Director Dr. Francis Chong, Consul-General William Chik and other representatives from Singapore were present at the meeting.
