WhatsApp has started rolling out a brand-new look for iPhone users. The popular messaging app is now using Apple’s Liquid Glass design with the latest iOS 26 update. This gives WhatsApp a modern and clean appearance. Users will notice semi-transparent visuals, smooth animations, and a floating tab bar.
These changes make the app match Apple’s newest design style. Currently, the new look is available only to some users. More users are expected to get it in the coming weeks.
Fresh Look for WhatsApp on iOS
The new interface comes with WhatsApp’s latest App Store update (version 25.28.75). The official update notes mention Live Photos support and on-device message translation, but users have found major design changes that were not listed.
According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, this update introduces the Liquid Glass UI on iOS. The update includes semi-transparent elements, layered visuals, and smoother transitions between screens. The tab bar now floats above the chat list, giving the app a cleaner and more modern look.
Screenshots shared online show that the new interface feels lighter, smoother, and more fluid, matching Apple’s visual style in iOS 26.
Works with Light and Dark Modes
The Liquid Glass design automatically adapts to both light and dark modes. The app changes background transparency and motion effects depending on which mode the user selects.
WABetaInfo also mentions that the design works well with Apple’s new keyboard, giving a consistent and polished look across the app. This makes WhatsApp appear more refined and fully in line with the iOS 26 system design.
Limited Rollout for Now
At the moment, the new interface is available only to selected users, including beta testers. WhatsApp seems to be releasing it in stages, so it can monitor user feedback and check performance before making it available to everyone. This phased rollout ensures the new visuals work smoothly on different iPhone models and iOS versions.
More Features Coming to WhatsApp
Besides the new design, WhatsApp has been adding more features. Users can now share Live Photos on iOS and Motion Photos on Android, making chats more lively.
Meta has also added custom chat themes, new sticker packs, and video call backgrounds with Meta AI integration. In addition, WhatsApp is testing a “Status Questions” feature, which lets users post interactive Q&A-style status updates. This feature is currently available only for beta testers on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.29.12.
WhatsApp’s Makeover Matches Apple’s Vision
This redesign shows how Meta is aligning WhatsApp with Apple’s design ecosystem. By using the Liquid Glass design, WhatsApp feels more native to iOS. It also shows stronger integration with Apple’s visuals and performance standards.
As Apple continues to improve iOS aesthetics, WhatsApp’s move could lead to more platform-specific designs, making the app feel perfectly suited for both iPhone and Android users.
