Vivo has confirmed that its new Android 16-based OriginOS 6 will launch on October 10 in China. The company will then host a global launch on October 15, bringing its redesigned software to users worldwide.
This is the first time OriginOS will go global. Until now, vivo shipped Chinese devices with OriginOS, but international models used Funtouch OS. With this shift, vivo and iQOO users—including those in India—will finally experience the same unified interface.
The vivo X300 series and the iQOO 15 will be the first smartphones to ship with OriginOS 6 out of the box. For existing devices, vivo and iQOO will announce rollout timelines later, likely in November.

Vivo and iQOO India have confirmed a Preview Program for OriginOS 6. Registration opens on September 29, but details of the process and eligible models are still under wraps.

For iQOO fans, Shankar Singh, DGM of Product Management at iQOO India, confirmed that the iQOO 13 will be the first device in the country to get the preview.

The global rollout of OriginOS 6 is not just a software update. It signals a strategy shift. Vivo can more directly compete with OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Samsung, which already offer high-end global user interfaces, by integrating software.
Indian premium buyers often prefer smartphones with refined and consistent software. By moving away from Funtouch OS, vivo and iQOO may now attract a wider base of users who earlier avoided them due to software differences.

The launch of OriginOS 6 is a turning point for vivo and iQOO. It will finally bring their global and Chinese users under the same software experience. India will get an early look with the Preview Program this September.
With its clean design, Android 16 optimisation, and focus on personalisation, OriginOS 6 could help vivo and iQOO win new customers in India’s competitive smartphone market.
