Last solar eclipse on Sunday, September 21, 2025, and people will watch it worldwide from sky-watchers to astrologers. This celestial event will take place in Virgo and Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra which is very significant in astronomy and astrology. The eclipse will not be observable in India and hence the country will not consider it an event for the observance of its rituals.
The Solar eclipse is slated to commence at approximately 11:00 AM and will be concluded by around 3:30 PM and in accordance with Pandit Kalki Ram an eminent astrologer from Ayodhya. The new moon day will fall during this time in the Hindu month of Ashwin.
While this is an appropriate window for astrological observation, it mainly concerns us inasmuch as the eclipse is invisible here in India elsewhere in the eastern part of the globe including places like Australia, New Zealand, parts of Africa and the South Pacific a full-fledged solar eclipse will indeed take place and so shall the Sutak period, an important period of religious observance.

From a scientific angle a solar eclipse happens when the Moon comes to block the Sun from view from Earth and may be either partly or completely obscured. This breathtaking natural occurrence is one of the prime topics in astronomy.
The 2025 eclipse conforms to this way of thinking seen in selective areas and reaffirming the predictable dance of celestial bodies around the solar system.

According to Hindu traditions, eclipses hold great spiritual significance beyond being mundane astronomical phenomena. The Sutak period, which is the pre-eclipse time, is characterized by a range of religious restrictions and observances.
It begins 12 hours before a solar eclipse and 9 hours before a lunar eclipse. Since the 2025 eclipse will not be seen in India the Sutak period will not be observed and this is not the case in countries lying in the eclipse's path.
