Redmi is preparing to unveil a new smartphone in India this week, and it has already generated buzz due to teasers and leaks. Named the Redmi 15 5G, the handset is expected to be a standout device as it will be the first in its category to come with a Silicon-carbon battery. Ahead of its official launch, the company has also shared several important specifications, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect.

Launch Date and Event

The Redmi 15 5G will officially debut in India on August 19, 2025. The company confirmed that the launch event will be livestreamed through its official YouTube channel, while regular updates will also be posted across social media platforms.

Expected Price and Availability

Although the official price for India has not yet been announced, a recent listing on Redmi’s Malaysian website gave some indication. The device was priced at MYR 729 (about ₹15,000) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Based on this, experts believe the Indian version may also be priced around ₹15,000.

If the company follows its usual trend, the smartphone is expected to go on sale within a week of its launch.

Battery and Endurance

The biggest talking point of the Redmi 15 5G is its 7,000mAh battery, which uses advanced Silicon-carbon technology. This allows Redmi to pack a high-capacity battery into a compact design. The phone also supports 18W reverse charging, enabling users to charge other devices directly from it.

Redmi claims that the battery will maintain 80% of its health even after more than four years of usage. In addition, the brand highlighted several endurance statistics:

  • 13.5 hours of standby time with just 1% battery in hibernation mode

  • 55.6 hours of Spotify music playback

  • 23.5 hours of YouTube streaming

  • 17.5 hours of Instagram Reels browsing

  • 12.75 hours of BGMI gameplay

These numbers suggest that the device is designed for heavy, long-lasting use.

Display and Visual Experience

The Redmi 15 5G will carry a 6.9-inch display with up to a 144Hz refresh rate, making it one of the fastest in its segment. It is also being promoted as the “most eye-safe display” in its category.

Leaks indicate that it might feature a Full HD+ LCD panel with a 288Hz touch sampling rate and Wet Touch Technology 2.0, which allows smooth touch response even with wet fingers.

Performance and Software

Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor. On the software side, it will run Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0, which is based on Android 15.

The handset is expected to come with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It will also feature a range of AI-based tools, including Google’s Circle to Search, enhancing productivity and usability.

Cameras

The Redmi 15 5G will likely house a dual rear camera system, headlined by a 50-megapixel primary sensor along with a secondary, unspecified lens. For selfies and video calls, it may include an 8-megapixel front camera.

The Redmi 15 5G is shaping up to be a feature-packed mid-range smartphone with a powerful new battery technology, high-refresh display, solid performance specs, and AI-driven software experience all at a competitive price point.
